Goat beer...with history! Kozel has been brewed in the Czech Republic since the 19th century, though production had been stopped by the First World War and then the annexation of the Sudetenland by Nazi Germany in 1938. The brewery was then nationalized during the Communist era, and then returned to private hands after the Velvet Revolution, all while keeping the goat label.
Medium pale with a small off-white head. Light malty aroma with a bit of grain and grass. A bit of malty sweetness on the tongue with a nice solid hoppy finish. Pretty solid for a pilsner, but still quite smooth and refreshing.
4/5
